On 15-16 March 2016, leaders from business, government and civil society will gather in New York City for the 2016 Women’s Empowerment Principles Event, Business Partners for Gender Equality: Multipliers for Development, the premier UN conference focused on the critical role of business in achieving gender equality. Held in observance of International Women’s Day and an official side-event of the 60th Commission on the Status of Women, inspirational leaders from business, civil society, Government and the UN will tackle how to break gender barriers, promote sustainable growth and advance sustainable development.
Taking place less than six months after the launch of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the event will showcase innovative business models and partnerships that are helping to unleash the full potential of women in all capacities, harnessing their enterprise and creativity to strengthen sustainable development and sustainable business, families and communities. Business leaders from around the world will share leading approaches and concrete actions that they are taking to advance gender equality, within and through their businesses, and participants will engage in interactive discussions to overcome key challenges, identify new opportunities and share ideas for scaling up implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to deliver for sustainable development.
